Financial Aid Fund Deadline 5pm This Friday 4th October The deadline for applications for the Financial Aid Fund is 5pm this Friday 4th October. Do you want to get naked? (For Charity!) This year NUI Galway Students’ Union will be producing the NUI Galway Naked Calendar to raise funds for the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) and Galway Rape Crisis Centre. We would like the Societies, Clubs and other groups on campus to get involved and get their kits off for these very worthy causes. If you want to get involved please email firstname.lastname@example.org before 5pm on Monday 7th October for more information.
RSA Weds 9th October The Road Safety Authority Shuttle will be on Campus on Wednesday 9th October 10am-5pm outside Áras na Mac Léinn.On the shuttle you can: practice your driving skills on our simulators ( car, motorbike)
- enjoy a fully interactive road safety educational experience
- test your hazard perception skills
- bike along the coast through ancient jungles and many other exotic places (even outer space !) on our bicycle simulator
- test your brake reaction time
- practice the driver theory test on board
SUSI Clinic Weds 9th October We will be hosting a SUSI Clinic on Wednesday 9th of October 11am-4pm in Smokey’s Café. If you have any problems with your grant please attend as a representative from SUSI will be there.
Class Reps Training Thurs 10th October Class Reps Training will take place on Thursday 10th October 6pm-9pm (Venue to be confirmed). Every class is entitled to a Class Representative to represent their class. If your class does not have a Class Rep your voice will not be heard. Fun Run Sat 12th October for Jigsaw An 8k Fun Run for NUI Galway Alumni, students and friends will be held on the grounds of NUI Galway at 10am, Saturday 12th. You can sign up now in the SU office and pick up a sponsorship card. To register online and for further information go to:

Graduate Jobs Fair Tues 8th Oct There will be a Graduate Jobs Fair Tuesday 8th October in the Bailey Allen Hall 12.30-4pm. 66 companies confirmed to date.
Connacht Heineken Cup Rugby Tickets We now have tickets on sale in the SU Office for Connacht Rugby vs Saracens for just €15. This Heineken Cup match takes place on Friday 11th October at 8pm in the Sportsground. Please note that you can only get the €15 NUIG Student tickets from the SU office – they won’t be on sale at the gate.

How about €1,000 to make it happen? – Applications Close Friday 11 October The EXPLORE innovation initiative is currently seeking applications from students, but applications close on Friday 11 October. If you have an innovative idea which involves teaming up with a member of NUI Galway staff, we may be able to award you funding of €1,000 as well as providing support to put your idea into action. EXPLORE has already funded dozens of projects involving over 200 staff and students since its launch in 2012. This is a great way to develop new skills, boost your CV, work with your lecturers, expand your network and much more. Code Ninja is Back CodeNinja, an app competition for third-level students in Galway, is back on Galway’s college campuses and is gearing up to give students the skills and knowledge required to create their own apps. CodeNinja is open to teams from NUI Galway and GMIT who want to build an innovative web or mobile app, with prizes to be awarded to the top entries in February 2014. NUI Galway Working and Travelling Abroad Fair The Fair will take place between 12pm and 3pm on Wednesday 30th of October in the Bailey Allen Hall. This free event brings together J1 Visa Companies, travel companies, volunteering/adventure companies, travel insurance, internship and training companies to help you plan your summer.

Accenture Experience The Accenture Experience comes to Galway on Tuesday 8th October 5pm-9.30pm in the Hotel Meyrick, Eyre Square, Galway. Meet Accenture employees, take part in a skills workshop, participate in a business case study and learn what Accenture looks for in a graduate. Student Travelcards – Available Now The shiny new travelcards are now available from the Students’ Union office upstairs in Áras na Mac Léinn between 10am and 5pm Monday to Friday. All you need to do is bring yourself, your new college ID, €15 and a smile for the photo we will take of you. These are valid until the 31st of December 2014.
Lockers – 421 Lockers still available! Please note that lockers are now available. You need to register online first at https://services.su.nuigalway.ie and your locker will be reserved for a 3 day period during which you can call up to the SU to collect your key and pay for same. Please note that keys for lockers in Áras Moyola and the Engineering Building can only be collected at the SU Engineering Desk in the Engineering Building foyer Monday – Friday 11am-3pm.
