Our Voter Registration Drive takes place today 11am-4pm in Áras na Mac Léinn so make sure you get yourself along and get registered. We will also have loads of free stuff which is always a bonus! If you are not around call to the SU Office before the 26th of October and we will get all the paperwork sorted out for you.

THE SU BIG FAT CHARITY TABLE QUIZ is back in aid of Galway Rape Crisis Centre and the Irish Cancer Society

Make your idea happen with EXPLORE Innovation funding
The Students’ Union/NUI Galway EXPLORE initiative is seeking applications from students and staff wishing to work in partnership on innovative new projects to benefit NUI Galway and/or the wider community. Up to €900 is available per project. This is a great way to turn an idea into reality, develop new skills, boost your CV, expand your network and much more! Closing date: Tues, 20 Oct 2015. NUIG 8k Registration Still Open

The NUI Galway Kingfisher 8k walk/run/crawl in aid of Jigsaw will take place on World Mental Health Day Saturday 10th October at 10am. Entry fee is just €25 and all funds raised will support mental health services for young people in Galway. Register Now.

Student Cycle Challenge – Win Prizes for Cycling!

The National Student Cycle Challenge will run from Monday 12th to Friday 23rd of October (Monday to Friday each week). NUI Galway students are encouraged to get together into teams of three, register online at  and then the aim is to clock up as many cycle trips as possible during the 10 day challenge ….. and win prizes! NUI Galway Hardiman Research Scholarship scheme for PhD students now open

The Hardiman Research Scholarships and Dr Tony Ryan Research Scholarships are fully funded for four years, with a stipend of €16,000 p.a. plus fees. The Scholarships offer opportunities for suitably qualified individuals to pursue a Structured PhD focused on the five key areas of research in which the University offers leading expertise. These are:

  • Applied Social Sciences and Public Policy
  • Biomedical Science and Engineering
  • Environment, Marine, and Energy
  • Humanities in Context, including Digital Humanities
  • Informatics, Data Analytics, Physical and Computational Sciences

The Academic Writing Centre is now open
You can drop into the AWC to get help with all aspects of essay writing including the writing process (and writer’s block), essay structure, punctuation, using secondary sources and avoiding plagiarism.
Opening hours: 1-11 and 6-8 daily (except weekends and Friday nights).
All NUIG students are very welcome.
