This Tuesday will you SHAVE or DYE to fight Cancer?
NUI Galway Shave or Dye takes place this Tuesday 17th February 2pm-5pm in the College Bar. Please support the event by volunteering to get your hair shaved or dyed (temporary options available!) or just come along to support the brave NUI Galway students and staff that are getting the chop!

SU Elections 2015 – Nominations Open Next Week
The SU Council Chairperson will be elected at the last SU Council meeting of the year at 6pm on Monday 2nd March 2015 in IT250. Please note that only registered class reps can run for, nominate and vote in this election.
Nominations open at 10am on Monday 16th February – nomination forms will be available from the SU Office and website.
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 23rd February – completed nomination forms must be returned to the box in the SU Office. Late nominations will not be accepted.
Full Time Officer Elections – President, VP/Education, VP/Welfare – Nominations Open 10am Thursday 19th February. Nominations Close 5pm Wednesday 25th February. Election Day Thursday 5th March.
Part Time Officer Elections – Oifigeach na Gaeilge, Equality, Societies, Clubs, Postgrad, Mature Students, 5 Convenor Positions – Nominations Open 10am Thursday 26th February. Nominations Close 5pm Wednesday 4th March. Election Day Thursday 12th March.
The NUI Galway Students’ Union Charity Aquathon takes place on Tuesday 24th of February 2015. The event consists of a 750m swim (30 lengths) in the swimming pool in the Sports Centre followed by a 5km run in Dangan.
Participants are asked to raise a minimum of €25 to take part and all proceeds will go to the SU Charities: Console and BeLonG To. You can sign up in the Students’ Union office/Engineering Desk and collect your Sponsorship Card now. Entry includes free t-shirt and food for all participants.
College Campus Radio Ltd. (operator of Flirt FM 101.3) are seeking nominations for Student Representatives to their Board of Directors.
They are looking for current NUI Galway Students that will be in university next academic year 2015-16 also, that will work well as part of a team, contribute reasoned opinion and accept and support decisions reached by the Board and are able to commit the time and resources to serve on the Board and committees, as requested.

The IGNITE Graduate Business Innovation Programme is carrying out a national survey among 3rd level students on attitudes towards entrepreneurship. Examining student interest in becoming entrepreneurs, the survey will assess the positive and negative factors that influence students when it comes to entrepreneurship,and we would love to hear your opinions.

NUI Galway Students’ Union Election Results 2014
Congratulations to the newly elected NUI Galway Students’ Union Sabbatical officers who will take up office on the 1st of July. They are: President Declan Higgins, Vice-President/Education Officer Phelim Kelly and Vice-President/Welfare Officer Aoife Ní Shúilleabháin. The students of NUI Galway also voted to keep the Students’ Union Pro-Choice on the issue of abortion and voted to support the BDS Campaign against the state of Israel.
On Thursday 13th of March students will go back to the polls at NUI Galway to elect their part-time officers and to decide on a referendum regarding the Students’ Union Position on the Issue of Couples of the Same Gender Availing of Civil Marriage.
