All proceeds go to the SU Charities Galway Rape Crisis Centre and COPE Galway. €5 tickets are also on sale for Neil Delamere on Monday 18th of February. Tickets will also be on sale from the SU Engineering desk from 11am this Monday.
The NUI Galway Working and Travelling Abroad Fair 2019 will help you to plan the best summer ever! The Fair will take place 12pm-3pm on Wednesday 23rd January in Áras na Mac Léinn. Exhibitors include: J1 Visa companies, travel companies, volunteering/adventure companies, internships/training companies and there will be delicious food stalls to fill your belly as you plan your summer!
Online module registration / change of mind is open from 11am Tuesday 8th of January until Friday 1st of February. This is for online registration of optional semester 2 modules only where your programme permits. The deadline for paying the remainder of fees is 31st of January.

We are looking for volunteers to help out with our annual charity collection day in Galway City on Saturday 2nd of February 2019.

Postgraduate Election – Nominations Open
Nominations are open for the Election of a Postgraduate Student as a member of Údarás na hOllscoile for the period February 1, 2019 – January 31, 2020. Nominations must be received in writing (or by email to Runai@nuigalway.ie) by the Returning Officer (Gearóid Ó Conluain, Room A131, Quadrangle) by 12pm on Wednesday 23rd January 2019. Údarás na hOllscoile, the University’s governing authority, is responsible for managing and controlling all of the affairs of the University.

Provisional results may be released locally by Schools/Colleges via Blackboard Grade Centre. Students are advised to check Blackboard for information about provisional result release dates in the first instance or contact your College/School Office

Mikkeller Running Club is a new FREE Galway social running club that meets at 12.30pm on the 2nd Sunday of every month for a relaxed jog/run from the Salthouse along the Prom in Salthill. You can choose to do 5, 8 or 10kms at an easy pace whilst chatting to new friends. The run ends at the Salthouse where you get a free beer to reward your efforts! All welcome this Sunday 13th of January.

IT Sligo will be hosting #HackAccessSligo Friday 15th and Saturday 16th Feburary. The aim of the event is to find innovative solutions to accessibility challenges by creating a more diverse, open and engaging environment for everyone who lives in the North West.The event will run from 5 pm Friday evening to Saturday evening where participants will be presented with challenges that exclude people with disabilities from society, which they will attempt to ‘hack’. There will be mentors on hand to support the teams and each team will present their idea to a panel on the final day. Winners will be awarded a cash prize. First Cut! Youth Film Festival Deadline Mon 14th Jan
Are you a filmmaker? Are you aged between 12-24 years? Do you have a short film you want to share? Then First Cut! wants to hear from you! Whether you are an individual filmmaker or part of a school, college or youth group, visit firstcutfilmfestival.com to find out how to submit your film free of charge. Every type of film is welcome, including fiction, documentary, animation and music video. The festival runs Wednesday 6th – Saturday 9th March 2019. Disclosure Training with Galway Rape Crisis Centre
This half day course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to deal appropriately with a disclosure of sexual violence, in settings where this is likely to occur. It is also a pre-requisite for anyone wishing to do voluntary work (e.g. fundraising) with Galway Rape Crisis Centre. The training is delivered by Galway Rape Crisis Centre counsellors with extensive client experience and training skills.
The main aims of the training are to:
- Increase awareness of the causes and effects of sexual violence
- Examine attitudes, values and beliefs about sexual violence
- Promote an understanding and give opportunity to practice scenarios involving a disclosure of sexual violence
- Introduce the work of Galway Rape Crisis Centre, and give information on the broad range of services they provide
Training Methods: Classroom presentation on multimedia projector. Roleplay exercises. Group Discussion. Course handouts, questionnaires and evaluation forms are provided.
Certification: Participants will be issued with an attendance certificate on completion of the course. 5 CPD Points awarded through Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.
