Ever feel anxious about public speaking or meeting people…?

September will see the launch of the new and improved NUI Galway Participate online programme – a resource for anyone dealing with shyness or social anxiety. Whether it’s just difficulty with public speaking that’s holding you back, or a more general issue with meeting people, this will be worth checking out.

Participate uses cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) techniques. Similar programmes have been run successfully in NUI Galway and elsewhere in the past.  Students who sign up also get a personal tutor. Your tutor will check in with you online every week to help make sure that the programme is working for you.

All students of NUI Galway will be e-mailed with a link to the Participate website in September.  You can visit the site, test your social anxiety, and see how it works. This is also a research programme, so if you join you will be contributing to something that will help others, as well as yourself!

NUIG SU Christmas Day Thursday 21st November

Uncategorized

NUI Galway Students’ Union Christmas Day comes early again this year. We are holding a massive Christmas Day fundraiser in the College Bar on Thursday 21st of November to raise money for Galway Rape Crisis Centre and ISPCC/Childline. There will be a traditional Christmas dinner, carols, cheesy Christmas tunes with DJ Byrno and lots of prizes for the best/worst Christmas jumpers along with a whole lot of other Festive merriment! Get your tinsel, mistletoe and jumper ready now!

Santa also needs some helpers volunteers to assist with the fundraising on the day so if you have an hour or two to spare between 11am and 6pm on Thursday 21st December email studentsunion@nuigalway.ie to sign up and you will definitely be on Santa’s nice list this year.
