Reusable Menstrual Products Workshop led by Charlotte Amrouche. Heard about washable pads? Menstrual cups? Period underwear? Sea sponges? Want to see what it’s all about? See, touch, feel and ask as many questions as you want about these alternatives to tampons and pads. Coupons and offers will be available at the event. Extended Weekend Opening Hours in Library for Christmas Exams
After long negotiations we’ve secured extended weekend opening hours of James Hardiman Library, NUI Galway during the Christmas exams.
If there is good uptake for this trial period then the extended weekend hours will remain for the summer exams too – so use it or lose it!
The extended opening hours will be Saturday 08.30-21.00 (normally 08.30-17.30) and Sunday 10.00-21.00 (normally 10.00-17.30) for the following weekends:
- Sat 25th/Sun 26th Nov;
- Sat 2nd/Sun 3rd Dec;
- Sat 9th/Sun 10th Dec.
Postgrad Karaoke returns to Sult from 9pm this Friday 27th of October. As usual there’ll be lots of great SU Card offers and surprises for all!
Interested in a radio career and all things media? The 3rd National Student Radio Conference is a two-day event in NUI Galway Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th November for media students, community radio volunteers or anyone who would like to find out more about radio broadcasting. Speakers include Lynn Simpson, John Walsh, Brian Greene, Fergal D’arcy, Louise Clarke and Denzil Lacey. There’ll also be social and networking events over the two days.
6pm-7pm TONIGHT Thursday 26th October in Dangan. This is your chance to try out various events such as 100m, 800m, shot putt and long jump. There will be prizes for first male and female in each event.

This Saturday 28th of October will mark the 5 year anniversary of the death of Savita Halappanavar. Galway Pro-Choice will be holding a candlelit vigil at 6.30pm this Saturday 28th October on Church Yard Street (Galway Market) to mark the passing of a brave, intelligent and beautiful woman, whose life was an inspiration for so many people, and whose tragic death humbled our nation. Members of the public are welcome to attend and pay their respects.

The Community Connector works collaboratively with students in a friendly, relaxed and conversational way to explore social outlets available to them, meet new people and to organise student-focused social events.
NUI Galway Postgraduate Open Day 12pm-3pm Tues 7th Nov
The event takes place in the Bailey Allen Hall with short presentations taking place during the day also, covering such topics as funding opportunities, applications, and research. There will be over 60 stands on display, so this is your opportunity to meet lecturers and postgraduate students, see what postgraduate programmes are on offer, and to meet staff from Postgraduate Admissions, Career Development Centre, Graduate Studies, Research Office, and other student support services www.nuigalway.ie/postgraduate-open-day

Gaisce Information and Social Night!
An information evening for those interested in getting involved with the Gaisce Award will be held on Wednesday the 1st of November at 7pm at Sult. Gaisce is a self-development programme that encourages you to find your passion, get active, and make a difference in your community, as well as being a fantastic way to meet new people and develop a vast array of skills that will look great on any Graduate CV!
