Make your idea happen with EXPLORE Innovation funding
The Students’ Union/NUI Galway EXPLORE initiative is seeking applications from students and staff wishing to work in partnership on innovative new projects to benefit NUI Galway and/or the wider community. Up to €900 is available per project. This is a great way to turn an idea into reality, develop new skills, boost your CV, expand your network and much more! Closing date: Wed, 5 Nov 2014. Lords of Strut Gig: POSTPONED
Unfortunately we have had to postpone our Lords of Strut gig on Monday 20th of October. We hope to reschedule the gig for semester two. Ticket holders can get a refund from the SU Office Monday-Friday 10am-5pm. Our next comedy gig will be Panti Bliss: High Heels in Low Places on Monday 17th November. Tickets on sale from the SU Office soon.
Life Skills 2014 – now enrolling
The Life Skills Programme run by the Students’ Union offers a chance to further your development outside of the academic world. To book your space call up to the Students’ Union office with the course fee where applicable.
Courses on offer to students during the 2014/15 academic term include:
- Anti-Racism Training Course – 8 Spaces Left – €5
- Occupational First Aid – 7 Spaces left – 3 day course – €100 (usual price €160)

Connacht Rugby Tickets €15
€15 NUI Galway student tickets on sale now for Connacht vs La Rochelle 5pm this Saturday 18th October at the Sports ground. Tickets available from the SU Office (Mon-Fri 10am-5pm) and the SU Engineering Building Desk (Mon-Fri 11am-3pm).
The SU Enterprise Awards are now accepting applications and there is a €23,000 prize fund up for grabs! If you have a great idea for a business or a social enterprise make sure you get your entry in early. Closing date for entries is 5pm Friday 28th November.
Are You Registered to Vote?
The referendum on Civil Marriage will be upon us in the Spring and it will be very important that everyone votes. But you can’t vote if you’re not registered! You can quickly and easily check that you are registered to vote here.
Garda Liaison Officer Clinic
There will be a Garda Clinic 12.30pm-2.30pm on Monday 20th October in the Wellness Centre in the Hub. Feel free to pop by if you have any queries to Garda Nora Brady.

SU Charities for 2014/15 – want to help us?
Every year the Students’ Union selects charities that benefit from its fundraising initiatives. For the 2014/15 academic year we will be fundraising for Console and BeLonG To. Console is a national organisation supporting people in suicidal crisis and those bereaved by suicide through professional counselling, support and helpline services. BeLongTo support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people in Ireland.
Croí Charity Fashion Show Extravaganza Thursday 23rd October in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway
Supporting Croí’s Women at Heart Campaign the event includes: Refreshment reception on arrival; Catwalk Model Agency showcasing some of the West’s best fashion stores; Lisa Cannon from TV3’s Xposé as MC; Fashion & Beauty Industry stands and exhibitors; A Goodie Bag for each attendee and Raffle on the night, with great prizes
Our office is located upstairs in the Áras na Mac Léinn building beside the College Bar and we are open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm.
Our reception desk in the Engineering Building foyer is open Monday – Friday 11am-3pm.
