Voting to elect your Part Time Officers takes place on campus 10am-8pm next Thursday 14th of March. If you won’t be on campus to vote Remote Vote Registration via the SU Website will open this weekend and you have until midnight Weds 13th March to register.
The Semester 2 Exam Timetable will be available online from 12noon Thursday 14th of March. Semester 2 exams will begin on Monday 8th April (5MB3 Students Only) and Tuesday 23rd April (All Students). All exams will end on Friday 10th of May. If your timetable is incorrect or you do not have a timetable, please consult the Frequently Asked Questions online before visiting the Student Information Desk in Áras Uí Chathail (Ground Floor).
We will be joining the International Women’s Day #Time4Equality protest at 3.30pm tomorrow Friday 8th March in Eyre Square – please join us!

First Steps To Success Free Careers Event TODAY

FREE STI Clinics
The free STI Clinic in the Student Health Unit in Áras na Mac Léinn is by appointment only phone 091 492 604 to book. Remember you can pick up FREE condoms from the SU Office or the SU Engineering Desk all year long.
GigSoc are hosting the NUI Galway Pride Parade next Wednesday. All are welcome to gather at the Engineering Building at 1:30pm on Wednesday 13th March and the parade will end with free food and speeches in the Cube in Áras na Mac Léinn.
International Paintball Group will be on campus 11am-4pm TODAY Thursday 7th of March in Áras na Mac Léinn with great deals on paintballing trips in Ireland and around the world!
Student Achievement Awards Nominations Close 5pm Tues 12th March
Nominations for the Student Achievement Awards Ireland 2019 are now OPEN with a record total of 22 awards categories! The awards recognise the great achievements of students all over Ireland, and their dedication to improving education and society. If you are one of the shortlisted nominees you will be invited to the USI SAAI Awards Ceremony in Dublin on April 18th. Go to usi.ie/awards/ to find out more and submit a nomination online.
Marchathon Competition Time
- Team Photo Competition: This week we want to see the most creative, quirky and original photos of your team ‘Stepping’ up to the Challenge, so grab your team mates and get posing. Each member of the winning teams will be awarded a Smarter Travel Goodie Pack! All photos must be submitted by 12pm on Friday 8th March at this link.
- Go the Distance Competition- Cliffs of Moher Walking Trail: Each week we will be challenging your team to collectively complete a well-known walking trail, or climb to the top of a mountain. This week we’re staying close to home and challenging you to achieve a team average of 45,000 steps during the first week of the competition, to complete the Cliffs of Moher Walking Trail (up and back – that’s 37km in total). Teams who reach a team average of 45,000 steps or above will be entered into a draw for Me2You Shopping Vouchers and Smarter Travel Goodie Packs.
You can still join the Marchathon challenge at any time in March – just register your team of 3-6 online and get walking!
Fancy spending your summer in America doing something you love, travelling and exploring everything the USA has to offer? USA Summer Camp will be on campus today Thursday the 7th of March in Áras na Mac Léinn to tell you about your J1 options and opportunities!
Outreach project ‘Let’s Talk Cancer’
‘Let’s Talk Cancer’ aims to dispel the numerous myths surrounding the risk factors associated with cancer, where facts can often be misinterpreted and research studies sensationalised. This is achieved through short, snappy, animated videos! The first video focuses on obesity and its links to breast cancer: Watch it Here.

Table Quiz TONIGHT in aid of Maths & Education Final Year Symposium
There will be a fun Pub Quiz at 8pm on Thursday 7th of March at Sult. It’s just €20 per table, max of 4 people per team with lots of spot prizes up for grabs.
Student Survey on AED’s
Some NUI Galway students are carrying out a survey to see how aware people are of local AEDs and the need for them. Please complete their survey here.
Vodafone Promotion next Thursday
Vodafone will be in Áras na Mac Léinn 11am-4pm Thursday 14th of March with lots of deals, freebies and prizes!

Student Lifestyle Survey + Prizes!
Some NUI Galway students are doing a project with Croí and they are trying to get some feedback into the lifestyle of students on campus. They will be in the Bialann 1pm-3pm this Monday 11th March with prizes for people completing their survey. Please complete their quick survey here.

Student Budget Planner App Survey
Some NUI Galway students need your help with their survey on a student App providing money management, local & online discounts, healthy living guide, accommodation assistance and a student carpooling forum. Complete the survey here.
Drop into them in the library, if you’d like to work on your writing – their one-on-one tutorials are free! No appointment necessary.

GigSoc Launch T Fund
The T Fund recognises the extra financial burden faced by transgender and non-binary students. Funding is provided to students of NUI Galway for financial costs related to social transition. For more info email email@example.com
The joint congress of University Astronomy Societies will take place 9am-5pm on Saturday 9th March in the Human Biology Building at NUIG. There are five speakers, Prof Andy Shearer and Dr Mark Lang from NUIG, Prof Niall Smith CIT, Prof Créidhe O’ Sullivan Maynooth University, and Prof Stuart Reid University of Strathclyde. There will be refreshments throughout the day and the event is totally free.

BLOC & Arts in Action present for an eclectic lunchtime event, the spoken word collective REIC & DJ Shampain in the O’Donoghue Theatre 1pm Weds 13th March.

Research Study: Factors Affecting Blood Donation Intentions and Behaviours
Last chance to take part! NUI Galway students are invited to take part in a research study investigating the factors that influence how likely people are to donate blood. Participation involves filling out a 10 minute online survey here.

The free running club with a difference is back this Sunday 10th of March. Join them at 12.30pm on Sunday starting/finishing at the Salthouse for a 5/8/10k run along the Prom and get a free beer at the end for your efforts!

Registration is now open for this year’s Darkness Into Light 5k Walk/Run in aid of Pieta House at 4.15am on Saturday 11th of May. The early bird rate is available until the 31st of March. Sign up here.
Applications close at 4pm tomorrow Friday 8th of March for the Mayor’s Awards. The Awards are a yearly initiative by Galway City Council to acknowledge voluntary work carried out by people within Galway City.
The NUI Galway 5k run in aid of Jigsaw Galway takes place at 7pm on Tuesday 2nd of April. This is a spectacular Run, Jog or Walk around the University Campus along the banks of the river Corrib. Early bird registration rate is €10 for students and €15 for staff/public and includes a free t-shirt! Register here.
