We invite you to attend a rally in support of NUI Galway student Mduduze Creative Ngwenya at 1pm today Thurs 13th Feb at the Big Yellow Thing. Science student Mduduzi is from Zimbabwe and has been living in Direct Provision in Galway for the last 3 years. He is now facing deportation. Mduduzi is on the committee for the University of Sanctuary at NUIG. He is a talented, hard-working and socially conscious individual who has made a huge effort to integrate and engage with the community in Galway #SaveMdu

Marchathon Registration is Open NOW and you can win Prizes for Walking! The Challenge will run from Mon 2nd to Fri 27th March. Get together in teams of 3 to 6 people and have your team captain register your team on www.activetravellogger.ie to be in with a chance to win some great prizes including gift vouchers, activity trackers, Bluetooth speakers, power banks and more!
We will also be holding 30 minute walks each Wednesday during the challenge to help you get the steps in, meet new people and maybe get some more free stuff!

ROPES are hosting a Netflix & Chill pub quiz at 7.30pm Tues 18th Feb at Sult. It’s just €4 per person with lots of prizes and free food.
ALIVE is hosting an SDG Workshop free for all students to attend –Exploring Financial Justice – What are the SDGs? What do we mean by Financial Justice? Why is there poverty in some parts of the world and not others? 5pm-7pm Tues 18th Feb with Financial Justice Ireland in the Careers Seminar Room.
The NUIG Postgrad Ball 2020 will take place on Thurs 2nd of April in the Clayton Hotel. Early bird tickets, €45, will be available in Smokey’s on the 26th & 27th Feb 12pm-2pm. Tickets will be available from SocsBox or online for €50 after these dates.
Scholarships are open to new entrants, current NUIG students, students transferring to NUIG and those hoping to do postgrad courses at NUIG. Closing date 31st March.
Rave for the Reef is back at 8.30pm on Weds 19th of Feb in the Roisin Dubh. For every €50 euro we raise 1 coral can be planted and raised by the Reef Restoration Foundation. These scientists are currently working in the Great Barrier Reef trying to stop the coral bleaching epidemic, which is a major cause of climate change. Homelessness Protest March
There will be a Homelessness Protest March at 2.30pm on Sat 29th Feb from Spanish Arch to the Liam Mellows Statue.
6.30pm-8pm on Thurs 20th Feb The European Commission Representation in Ireland, in co-operation with European Movement Ireland and NUIG is delighted to invite you to an event ‘Galway at the Heart of Europe’ – a Citizens’ Dialogue on the Future of Europe in the Aula Maxim NUIG.
