7pm Fáilte Refugees Society Table Quiz in the Roisin Dubh aimed at overcoming myths around refugees and asylum seekers. €5 with reduced Silent Disco entry included.

12pm-1pm Official University of Sanctuary Campaign launch in the Siobhan McKenna Theatre. The University of Sanctuary Campaign is an initiative to encourage and celebrate the good practice of Universities welcoming refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants into their communities. The Campaign fosters a culture of welcome and inclusion for all those seeking sanctuary.

Road Safety Authority Interactive Shuttle + Roll-Over Simulator 11am-3pm Thursday 22nd of February Áras na Mac Léinn
- Practice your driving and hazard perception skills on our simulators (car, motorbike, bicycle)
- Take part in the roll-over simulation which demonstrates how it would feel if you were in a car which turned over in a collision.
- Practice the driver theory test.
- Get FREE High Vis stuff.
- Practice safe cycling skills on our state of the art bicycle simulator
- See how driving environments and speed affect your braking distances on the brake reaction timer.
The full-time officers – the President, the Vice-President/Education Officer and the Vice-President/Welfare & Equality Officer – will all be elected on Thursday the 8th of March 2018. Nominations for these positions will open at 10am on Thursday the 22nd of February 2018.
The part-time officer positions of – Oifigeach na Gaeilge, Equality Officer, Societies’ Chairperson, Postgraduate Officer, Clubs’ Captain, 5 College Convenors and Mature Students’ Officer – will all be elected on Thursday 12th of April 2018. Nominations for these positions will open at 10am on Thursday the 21st of March 2018.
The SU Council Chairperson will be elected at the last SU Council meeting of the year at 6pm in on Monday 5th of March 2018. Please note that only registered Class Reps can run for, nominate and vote in this election.

The Marchathon 10,000 Step Challenge is happening from Monday 26th February to Friday 23rd March. Students and staff from colleges throughout the country will get out walking in this fun event to win prizes, get fitter and use their feet as a sustainable form of transport. Sign up your team of 3-6 people now!

Sign up to the Undergraduate Research Conference – Build your CV and Skills
The Undergraduate Research Conference is a great event to be part of – you can come along and listen, or you can register to speak and share a paper or project you have worked on. It’s a fun, comfortable, and relaxed space for you to experience a conference. Friday March 16th from 10am – 2pm great food, and chance to give a short talk to a small group about an area that interests you. Great for the CV!
As it will be taking during Black History Month on Friday 16th of Feb our Dress Code will be – Class meets Culture. You can choose to wear formal (Black Tie) or cultural attire. It will be a night filled with music, dance, poetry and food. This fantastic night will consist of a 3 course meal, major acts, crowning of the King and Queen and other amazing activities! It’s a night not to be missed. ID will also be required on the night. Tickets are €20 and are available in the Soc Box in NUIG. P.S – Masquerade Masks are COMPULSORY on the night

What Kind of Writer Are You?
The Academic Writing Centre (AWC) manager Dr Ira Ruppo will be in the Library 12pm-1pm Thursday 22nd February to help you answer the question, ‘What kind of writer are you?’ Learning about your writing type can help you to manage your time as you research, draft, and edit your assignments. She can also answer any questions you have about the AWC and its services. You can find the Academic Skills Hub in the NUI Galway Library foyer, inside the electronic gates and then diagonally to your left.

This event is an open day for all students to come into the Launchpad on the Concourse where they can hear the interns talk about the services provided by Blackstone Launchpad, how our mentoring works and the successful projects Blackstone has had so far. There will also be some give-aways (free food!) on the day and a creativity workshop with clay modelling to help inspire creativity.
The SDG Advocate programme offers 26 active citizens an opportunity to represent their community, by becoming one of Ireland’s positive change makers. The 8 month training course will allow the advocates to deepen their understanding of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals, represent the project internationally and lead transformative change in Ireland. Closing Date: 5th March 2018

Are you registered to vote in Seanad Éireann elections? The deadline to be added to the NUI Seanad voter register is Monday 26th February.
Go to https://www.nui.ie/elections/seanad-register.asp to download the registration form. It must be printed, signed and posted to the Records Office, National University of Ireland, 49 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 or sent as a scanned copy to firstname.lastname@example.org before Monday 26th February 2018. Overseas graduates are eligible to vote in Seanad elections too.
NUI Galway 8K FREE Meet & Train Sessions
The NUIG Galway 8k in aid of Jigsaw Galway will be held on Saturday 10th March on the NUI Galway Campus starting at 10am at the Kingfisher Club and finishing at the Quadrangle. There are free meet-and-train sessions on at 1pm each Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday and also Wednesdays at 6pm departing from the Sports Centre on the NUI Galway campus.
