Iarnród Éireann and NUIG ID Cards

Remember because there are no expiry dates on NUI Galway ID cards Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail will only accept NUIG ID as proof of being a student 4 years from issue date i.e. if your ID starts with 14 (issued 2014) they will stop accepting it in 2018.

This is not great if you are doing a long course, took a year out or are back studying after break etc. BUT we are talking to the University about getting expiration dates on the ID cards again!

In the meantime we sell the Student Leap Card for €10 in the SU. They will take that as proof of your “studenthood”
