The referendum vote will take place 10am-5pm next Thurs 23rd Jan at Smokey’s Café. Please bring NUIG student ID with you to vote. If you won’t be on campus to vote Remote Vote registration will be open on the SU Website shortly.

Work and Travel Abroad Fair
Start planning your best summer ever! The NUI Galway Working & Travelling Abroad Fair takes place 12pm-3pm Weds 29th of Jan 2020 in Áras na Mac Léinn. Exhibitors include J1 Visa Companies, Travel Companies, Volunteering/Adventure Companies and Internship/Training Companies.
The first SU Council meeting of 2020 is on at 6pm on Mon 20th of Jan in AUC G002 in Áras Uí Chathail. All are welcome to attend!

After serious lobbying efforts and meetings we are delighted to announce that future costs associated with exam buses out to Salthill exam venues will be covered by the University so you don’t have to pay.
You can still get yourself registered to vote in the General Election on Sat 8th of February.
- Call in to the SU Office to collect an RFA2 Form
- Fill out the form
- Get this stamped by a Garda (Bring photo ID with you) *there will be garda at Smokey’s Café TODAY (Thurs 16th Jan) 9am-12pm to stamp forms this has been organised by Sinn Féin Soc*
- Post it to your local authority by Weds 22nd of Jan
The SU Free Cloakroom is open again 9am-6pm every Thursday and Friday during term. It’s located down beside the SU XL Shop in the Library basement.
We will be holding our annual charity collection day in aid of the SU Charities on Saturday 1st of February. If you have 2 hours to spare 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm or 3pm-5pm to shake a bucket please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org – All funds raised will be going to Domestic Violence Response and AIDS West.
Have a chat with the charities local to Galway and international projects too. Get a flavour of what you can learn and what you can bring! 12pm-3pm Thurs 16th Jan in The James Hardiman Library Foyer.

Become a 2020/2021 CÉIM Leader
Apply now to become a CÉIM peer learning student leader in 2020/21. Involves meeting weekly with 1st year students to help them transition successfully to NUI Galway, gain a greater understanding of coursework and meet new people. Benefits include: intensive free leadership training, skills development, improved CV, feel good factor of helping 1st years, meeting new people, CÉIM leadership certificate and digital badge, and more. Postgrad International Student Coffee Morning and Panel TODAY!
International students often struggle to navigate the bureaucracy in a new country. Come and ask all your questions to a panel of international postgrads, who are here to help! Current postgrads are also welcome – there will be a coffee session afterwards to share experiences and meet other international students from other colleges. The event takes place 11am-1pm Thurs 16th of Jan in The Space upstairs in Áras na Mac Léinn.
Come along to one of our open sessions to learn more and get started with the community volunteering – projects you will love and anytime that’s right for you! Workshops take place 5pm Thurs 16th Jan, 5pm Mon 20th Jan or 5pm Weds 22nd Jan in the ALIVE Office downstairs in Áras na Mac Léinn.
Circuit Training Just €3!
The NUIG Athletics Club is again running Circuit Training classes 7pm-8pm every Tuesday in the Dangan Sports Pavilion. These classes are just €3 and are open to all NUIG students and staff. These classes with Strength and Conditioning Coach Dave Fitzpatrick are geared towards getting people fit and active.

The NUI Galway Postgraduate Open Day will take place 12pm-3pm Tuesday, 4th February in the Bailey Allen Hall. Short presentations will take place during the day, covering such topics as funding opportunities, applications, and research. There will be over 100 stands on display, so this is your opportunity to meet lecturers and postgraduate students, see what postgraduate programmes are on offer, and to meet staff from Postgraduate Admissions, Career Development Centre, Graduate Studies, Fees Office, and other student support services. Election of a Postgraduate Student as a Member of Údarás na hOllscoile
Údaras na hOllscoile is the governing authority of NUI Galway. Nominations are now open for a postgraduate student to become a member of Údarás and nominations close at 12pm on Thurs 23rd of Jan. Nomination forms are available here.
Clubs’ Day will take place 12pm-4pm Thurs 30th of Jan in the Kingfisher Sports Hall. Is your new year’s resolution to get fit and active? Then join an NUI Galway Sports cub, with over 50 clubs to choose from we have everything you may need. From Gaelic Games to Martial arts and from Golf to Water Sports we have it all!

Thousands of young Europeans will gather in Strasbourg on 29-30 May 2020 at EYE 2020 (European Youth Event) to meet and inspire other young Europeans and exchange views with experts, activists, influencers and decision-makers right in the heart of European democracy.
