Working & Travelling Abroad Fair This Wednesday!

The NUI Galway Working and Travelling Abroad Fair 2018 will help you to plan the best summer ever! The Fair will take place 12pm-3pm on Wednesday 24th January in Áras na Mac Léinn with talks 12pm-8pm. Exhibitors include: J1 Visa companies, travel companies, volunteering/adventure companies, internships/training companies and there will be delicious food stalls to fill your belly as you plan your summer!

Disclosure Training Course now Enrolling

We are running our disclosure training course with Galway Rape Crisis Centre again 10am-1.30pm Tues 13th Feb. This half day course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to deal appropriately with a disclosure of sexual violence, in settings where this is likely to occur. The course costs €10 which goes to Galway Rape Crisis Centre and you can sign up now in the SU Office or phone 091 524810.

Volunteers Needed for SU Charity Collection Day Sat 3rd Feb

We are looking for volunteers to help out with our SU Annual Charity Collection day on Saturday 3rd February. We will be shaking buckets and convincing the good people of Galway to give us their spare change for Domestic Violence Response & AMACH! Please email studentsunion@nuigalway.ie if you can help out at any of the following times 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm or 3pm -5pm.

 

SU Charity Croagh Patrick Climb – Just 40 Spaces Available!
The NUI Galway Students’ Union Charity Croagh Patrick Climb takes place on Saturday 17th of February in conjunction with NUIG Mountaineering Club. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of €40 to take part and all proceeds will go to the SU Charities: Domestic Violence Response & AMACH!

Election of Postgrad Student to Údarás na hOllscoile

Oifig an Rúnaí will be running the annual election of a postgraduate student to Údarás na hOllscoile. Údarás na hOllscoile, the University’s governing authority, is responsible for managing and controlling all of the affairs of the University. The deadline for nominations is 12pm on Friday, 26th January.  Should there be more than one nomination, an election will be conducted by ballot on Tuesday, 30th January in the Concourse from 10am to 9pm.

Comediversity Gig Tonight

NUIG Comedy Society are holding their Comediversity gig at 7.30pm tonight in the Corrib Room at Sult. Tickets €5 students/€10 public. The comedy night features Ruth Hunter, Nathan Beatley, Margaret McHugh, Steven Sharpe, Dixie Normous, Mike Murphy, Aine Gallagher, Iback, Niall Horisk and Julie Jay. There’ll also be pizza and passes for 44/Electric.

 

Employability Skills Event 6pm Mon 22nd Jan “Your Personal Impact….” it matters

Effective communication skills are valued by employers and are key to a graduate’s success and performance in the workplace. By attending this free event you will increase your chances of being successful at work by developing an awareness of how your communication impacts others, and learn techniques on how to enhance this.  Open to all students 6pm-7pm Monday 22nd of January in the O’Donoghue Theatre. For students taking part in the NUI Galway Employability Award, this workshop counts towards the skills development element of the Award.

 

“Prevention is better than cure”, a quantitative study exploring undergraduate university students’ knowledge, perceived importance and self-efficacy of cancer prevention behaviours.

The proposed study aims to explore knowledge of cancer prevention behaviours among undergraduate students and to identify perceived importance of cancer prevention. The research also aims to determine if undergraduate students are engaging in cancer prevention behaviours.

The Graduate.ie Health & Wellbeing Programme

This is an online health and wellness competition exclusively for 3rd level students with attractive cash prizes to be won. Prizes: €10,000s €1,000s, €500s. €200s and €100s with at least 3 winners of €10,000.
