Learn Sign Language in 2016
Registration is now open for our 10 Week Basic Sign Language courses in 2016. The course cost is €40 (usual price €75) and you can pay in the SU Office or phone 091 524810 to pay by credit card.

Course options are: 
• 12pm-1pm Tuesday (19th January-22nd March)
• 1pm-2pm Tuesday (19th January-22nd March)
• 6pm-7pm Wednesday (20th January-23rd March)
• 6pm-7pm Thursday (21st January-7th April)

SU Life Skills Yoga Now Enrolling

The next SU 8 week Ashtanga yoga course is on Thursday 21st January – Thursday 10th March 2016.

The course cost is €40 for 8 weeks and you can pay the course fee in the SU Office now Monday-Friday 10am-5pm. To pay by credit card please phone 091 524810.

  •  6pm-7.30pm Beginners/Improvers 
  • 7.30pm-9pm Intermediate 

Exam Buses to Salthill

We have partnered with City Direct Bus Company to provide buses to the two exam venues in Salthill at Leisureland and the Galway Bay Hotel. This service will run twice a day during the exams and costs €2 per journey. Buses will leave University Road at 08:40 & 15:40 for Salthill. Buses will leave Leisureland in Salthill at 11:40 & 18:40 to return to University Road via Eyre Square. Look out for the red double decker bus.

Collection for the Homeless Weds 16th Dec

NUIG Rover Soc is organising a collection for the homeless of Galway on Wednesday 16th December. Any clothes, non-perishable foods, bed clothes and hobby materials that you can’t take home with you can go to a worthy cause! They will be driving around to all the main student accommodations so join the event here and tell your friends!

Student Travelcards & ISIC Cards Expiring 31st December 2015

Please check the expiration date on your Student Travelcard/ISIC Card – if it expires on 31st December 2015 make sure you call in to us before the Christmas break to renew it if you want cheap travel over the holidays! The Students’ Union office will close at on Tuesday 22nd December and will reopen at 10am on Thursday 7th January.

We take your photo and print the card off straight away for just €15.

University Crèche – Meeting Notice

Parents / Guardians of children in the University Crèche (or interested in enrolling in the Crèche) are invited to a meeting in AC201 (Concourse of Arts/Science Building):

The two options are either:

Thursday 10th December 2015 at 4.00pm – 5.00pm OR Friday 11th December 2015 at 1.00 pm to 2.00pm

This will be an opportunity to get an overview and update on the Crèche (from Theresa Murphy, Spraoi Early Learning Centre), participate in a discussion on safety and gain information on Crèche Comm (software).

This will also be an opportunity to elect new members for the Crèche Parents Committee. For queries on the meeting please email michael.heffernan@nuigalway.ie

NUI Galway Christmas Holiday Arrangements 2015

The Students’ Union office will close on Tuesday 22nd December and will reopen at 10am on Thursday 7th January.

The Library will be closed Thursday 24th December to Sunday 3rd January (inclusive)

The Student Health Unit will close on Tuesday 22nd December and will reopen on Wednesday 6th January.

The SU Cloakroom will close at 6.30pm on Friday 18th December and will reopen at 9am on Monday 11th January

The SU Engineering Desk will close at 3pm on Friday 11th December and will reopen at 11am on Monday 11th January

The College Bar will close at 3pm on Monday 21st December and will reopen on Monday 11th January.

The Hub will close on Friday 11th December and will reopen on Monday 11th January.

Caife Na Gaeilge will close at 3pm on Friday 18th December and will reopen on Monday 11th January.

The SU Shop will close at 5pm on Tuesday 22nd December and will reopen on Monday 4th January (reduced hours for first week back 8am-5pm)

Smokey’s Café will close at 5.30pm on Tuesday 22nd December and will reopen on Monday 4th January (reduced hours for first week back 8.30am-5.30pm)

The Wall Café will be open 10am-4pm Monday 21st-Wednesday 23rd December. Closed Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th December. Open 10am-4pm Monday 28th December, Tuesday 29th 10am-12.30pm and 10am-4pm Wednesday 30th December. Closed Thursday 31st December & Friday 1st January. Open 9am-6pm Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th January.

SUMS will close on Friday 11th December and will re-open on Monday 11th January.

Computer DISC will close on Friday 4th December and re-open on Monday 18th January.

The Academic Writing Centre is closed and will reopen in late January.

The Socs Box will be closing on Friday 18th December.

NUIG Alumni Galway Christmas Gathering

On Thursday 17th December from 6.30pm the NUIG Alumni Office will be holding their annual Christmas Gathering in Galway. There will be a performance from Cois Cladaigh and alumni, friends and NUI Galway staff are welcome. All proceeds from the night will go directly to the Student Hardship fund and tickets can be purchased by visiting www.tinyurl.com/Galway15
