Please make sure you use your voteTODAY. Bring your College ID to vote in our polling stations in An Bialann (10am-7pm), Áras na Mac Léinn (11am-8pm) or the Engineering Building (12pm-4pm) and vote to elect your SU Equality Officer, Societies Chair, Postgrad Officer, Mature Students Officer and 4 College Convenors for 2014/15. Alternatively vote online between 10am-8pm if you have registered for a Remote Vote.
You will also be asked to vote in a referendum on whether or not the Students’ Union supports couples of the same gender to avail of civil marriage. Votes will be counted tomorrow from 9am in Meeting Room 1 & 2 upstairs in Áras na Mac Léinn. Follow #nuigsu14 on Twitter for live updates. SU Election & Referenda Results so far.

The 2014 NUI Galway Rock the Prom will take place from 5pm on Thursday the 20th of March in Leisureland in sunny Salthill. Tickets are €35 and are on sale from the Students’ Union now. Over 18’s event. NUI Galway students only. ID required. Indoor event with full bar.
Notice of Election – Oifigeach na Gaeilge, Convenor of the College of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences, Clubs’ Captain
As no nominations were received for the positions of Oifigeach na Gaeilge, Convenor of the College of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences and Clubs’ Captain for 2014/15 a further election will be held to fill these positions.
Nominations OPEN 10am this Thursday 13th March 2014. Nomination forms will be available from the SU website and SU Office at this time.
Nominations CLOSE 5pm Wednesday 19th March 2014. Completed nomination forms must be returned to the box in the SU office – late nominations will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Canvassing begins 6pm Sunday 23rd March.
ELECTION DAY: 11am-4pm Thursday 27th March 2014. Votes will be counted once polls have closed.

Complete the National Student Survey – Deadline this Sunday
A national Student Survey is being carried out in all Irish universities, IoTs and Colleges of Education in February and March. The aim of the survey is to help enhance the quality of education Irish students receive by asking them in detail about their experiences. It is the only national student survey in Ireland, and it is important for the University to make sure our students’ views are well represented.
What you need to know
- The survey is available at www.studentsurvey.ie
- The survey will run in NUI Galway between Monday, 24 February and Sunday 16 March
- It is open to first year, final year and Postgraduate taught students only
- The survey comprises 100 questions and takes 15 minutes to complete
- For every completed survey, €1 will be donated to the NUI Galway Financial Aid Fund for students.
Cyclists and non-cyclists!
We are 5 Geography students from the University of St Andrews and will be carrying out research on cycling in Galway from March 31st to April 2nd. As part of our research, we would like to invite a group of 6-8 students to a focus discussion at Kinlay Hostel to discuss their views on cycling.
We would like to have some cycling enthusiasts and some people who don’t cycle. THERE WILL BE CAKE AND TEA. The focus group discussion will take place on Monday (31.03) or Tuesday (01.04) or Wednesday (02.04) depending on how many people sign up. If interested, please contact email@example.com
