Today is our Charity Christmas Day in aid of The RNLI and Threshold. The day kicks off in Sult with Santa’s Grotto, Christmas Treats, a photo booth, Santa Hats, DJs, Freebies, Cheesy Christmas tunes, jumpers and a whole lot of tinsel from 11am. Look out for our volunteers selling Santa hats and exchanging cash for gold and please donate what you can.
The last 100 €5 wristbands are on sale in the SU Office at 10am and these get you in to either Electric or Four/Four between 10pm-11pm for the official after party.

If you have exams in the Salthill Venues (Leisureland/Galway Bay Hotel) we have arranged a bus service to Salthill each day of the exams for just €2 per journey.
Class Reps SU Council 6pm Monday
The last SU Class Reps Council meeting of the year is on this Monday 21st of November at 6pm in the Kirwan Theatre. All Class Reps MUST ATTEND. For more information contact Cathal on firstname.lastname@example.org
Semester 1 (2016/2017) exams are scheduled for Monday 5th to Friday, 16th December 2016 (inclusive). Students are expected to be available for exams for the entire duration of the exam session.
The Semester 1 exam timetable will be published on Friday, 11th November at 16:00.

Are You Registered to Vote?
If you are not registered to vote please call to the Students’ Union office ASAP and we will get you registered. The Draft Register of Electors is online at www.checktheregister.ie. If on the 15th February 2017 you are aged 18 or over please check that your name, address and other details are present and correct on the Draft Register. If there is a mistake or you are not present on the Register you have until Friday 25th of November to fill out the paperwork and return it to you City/County Council.

NUI Galway students Andrew Ó Donnghaile and Lindsay McIvor have been shortlisted in this year’s Think Before You Flush student video competition. Please give their video a watch at the link below – every watch is a vote!
The video with the most views by 5pm on Saturday 19th November 2016 will win the People’s choice award.

World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims this Sunday
The Road Safety Authority’s Memorial Service for ‘World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims’ takes place in the Salthill Hotel, Galway 2pm-3pm this Sunday 20th November. All are welcome to attend. This day gives us an opportunity to remember those who have died on our roads and the families, friends and communities who have been devastated by their loss and also we remember those who have survived with life altering injuries. For thousands of families around the country, their lives are forever changed as a result of a collision.

Volunteering Opportunity with Irish Guide Dogs
Could you give two hours of your time on Friday December 9th to help fundraise in Galway city with Irish Guide Dogs? An experienced volunteer with Irish Guide Dogs or staff member will lead a team of 6-8 volunteers to visit a few pubs in Galway city centre asking people for a donation. You will spend about ten minutes in each pub. You will be provided with a list of the pubs, a high-vis jacket and a bucket for collection.
Polar Plunge Galway
The Special Olympics are holding their Polar Plunge event in Salthill on Saturday the 10th of December. Start off the Christmas season by raising much needed funds for the organisation in a fun, refreshing way!
Cloakroom open TOMORROW
The SU FREE Cloakroom will be open on Fridays 9am-5pm during term time. The service is still free but will only be one day per week. Items must be removed at 5pm and we can’t take laptops. The SU Cloakroom is located in the library basement beside the Students’ Union XL Shop.
Need Help with Writing?
The Academic Writing Centre provides FREE support across the disciplines for students at all stages of the writing process. The AWC is located on the top floor of the James Hardiman Library, and our hours are: Monday-Friday from 11am to 1pm and Monday-Thursday from 6pm to 8pm www.library.nuigalway.ie/awc.
In response to feedback received from users about the 30 Minute Rule, and in an effort to reduce the instances of desk hogging, the Library is introducing a new ‘Study Break Policy’ for the monitoring and managing of study space during peak times in the Library. The policy will apply during the following periods: 01 November – 16 December 2016 and 03 April – 10 May 2017.
This year we will be raising money for the RNLI and the homeless charity Threshold but we need your help! If you have any time to volunteer or have any wild ideas for a fundraising event then please get in touch with us! Email email@example.com
NUIG Free STI Clinic – BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
Please note that you must make an appointment in person in the Student Health Unit or by phoning 091 492604 before attending. The STI Clinic runs 5pm-7pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Mindful Meditation Practice for Semester 1 will take place every Wednesday from 1:10pm to 1:50pm in classroom AC202 on the concourse. All are welcome including staff, students, alumni, members of the local community and guests to campus.
Our office is upstairs in the Áras na Mac Léinn building beside Sult and we are open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm.
Our reception desk in the Engineering Building foyer is open Monday – Friday 11am-3pm.
