Here are the #littlethings that can make a big difference to our mental health and our wellbeing:

  • Keeping Active
  • Talking About Your Problems
  • Looking Out For Others
  • Doing Things With Others
  • Eating Healthily
  • Staying In Touch
  • Drinking Less Alcohol
  • Sleeping Well

Mental Health Week in NUI Galway is co-ordinated by Student Services and NUI Galway Students’ Union in partnership with a range of external agencies.

Sports Clubs Celebrate the “Little Things”

Did you know sitting down for long periods of time is very bad for your health. Research gathered now concludes “we need to move every hour” to off-set cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

We are asking all students where every they are to stand up every hour, shake out your legs and hands and just sit down again – where ever you are – if you feel brave and want to shout out “Mental Health” please do. Random prizes of gym memberships, hoodies and vouchers will be given to those students participating – so the more you move, the better the chance you have of winning a prize!

Look out for our Health & Wellbeing Team during Mental Health Week who will be checking lectures, restaurants and the library for movers and shakers.

Handball Club will be setting up a “one wall – intro to handball” for all those who wish to have a go in the Sports Hall on Wednesday 7th October.
