€5 Wristbands for our Charity Christmas Jumper Night go on sale from the SU on Monday. All proceeds from the event will go to Galway Rape Crisis Centre and COPE Galway. The event takes place from 10pm on Thursday 29th of November in Electric and Four Four.
Our charity cake sale and Pet Farm is back on Wednesday 5th of December 11am-3pm. All proceeds from the event will go to Galway Rape Crisis Centre and COPE Galway. We are looking for volunteers to help out with the event by baking or selling cakes/raffle tickets. To volunteer please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Study Break Policy in Operation
The Library Study Break Policy is now in place in the Library. Pick up a Study Break Form on your way into the library – you can have a break of 60 mins, but don’t forget to fill in the form and leave on your desk, or another student can take your place
The Galway Safe app aims to reduce drownings in Galway city by using GPS to detect people lingering beside the water between 12pm-6am. The app then sends a message to make sure the user is ok and if they are not the app can contact an In case of emergency contact or the emergency services. More info: email@example.com

We invite you to submit a nomination for awards in the fields of the Arts, Business, Engineering, Science, Law, Public Policy and Government, Medicine, Nursing and Contribution to Sport. The broad criteria for selection is that nominees are graduates of NUI Galway who have made an “outstanding contribution in their area of endeavour” in any of the fields above. Nominations will be handled in strict confidence and should include a brief description of the nominee (no more than 20 lines), their achievements and any additional information to support the nomination. To avoid disappointment, please do not disclose your nomination to the nominee. Alumni Award winners will be notified and names of the winners will be made public in the New Year. Deadline for nominations is Monday, November 19th 2018. Submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
ROPES literary journal are looking for your submissions of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, short stories, flash fiction, illustrations, cartoons, photography, plays, scripts, songs, lyrics, 6 word stories or graphic short stories. FREE STI Clinic
Remember that during term time you can book in to the Student Health Unit for a FREE STI test. Call 091 492 604 to make an appointment. You can also get free condoms in the SU Office and from the SU Engineering Desk.
We are now taking bookings for our next 8 week Ashtanga Yoga Course. The cost is €40 which can be paid in the SU Office or phone 091 493 570 to register with credit/debit card.

Semester 1 (2018/2019) exams are scheduled for Monday, 10th December to Friday, 21st December 2018 (inclusive). Students are expected to be available for exams for the entire duration of the exam session. Please check your timetable carefully – if there are any subjects missing from your schedule contact the Student Information Desk IMMEDIATELY!
If on 15th February 2019 you are aged 18 or over please check that your name, address and other details are present and correct on the Draft Register of Electors. If there is a mistake tell your local Council before 25th November. Voter registration forms are available from the SU Office.

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on Sunday

World AIDS Day Candlelit Concert
You are invited to attend our the AIDS West annual World AIDS Day Candlelit Memorial Concert at 8pm on Sunday 2nd of December in St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church featuring Cois Cladaigh and the beautifully blended voices of Galway’s Three Sopranos Bel Canto.

Novice Moot Court Competition
Maynooth University Law Society are hosting a Novice Moot Court Competition on the 1st of December and would be delighted to have NUI Galway teams to take part in the competition. The question is based on the area of nervous shock and there is a monetary prize of €160 for the winning team. More information from firstname.lastname@example.org
The “Frame of Mind” Short Film Competition is now open for entries until the 23rd of November. Walk in My Shoes is looking for original and eye-opening short films that promote positive mental health.
