NUI Galway Students’ Union offers a variety of services including:

With the SU Card, you can now earn points or free products every time you shop with us. Your SU Card can be used in any of the Students’ Unions businesses. Students’ Union businesses are spread thought out the campus, so your SU Card will quickly start to clock up the points.

The Union operates a year-round online second-hand bookstore where you can buy or sell text books covering every subject taught in the University.

The Students’ Union rents out lockers located at convenient points around the University. There’s a charge of  €15-€25 for renting a locker for the academic year. 2016 Lockers will go on sale 10am Monday 29th August 2016. You can reserve and pay for your locker online and collect your key at the SU Office/Engineering Desk.

The Life Skills Programme run by the Students’ Union offers a chance to further your development outside of the academic world through classes in areas such as: Sign Language, First Aid, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, Self Defence, and many more.

NUI Galway and the Students’ Union joined forces in early 2012 to introduce the EXPLORE Innovation Initiative. The first scheme of its kind in the Irish third-level sector, EXPLORE invites students and university staff to work in equal partnership to deliver innovation on campus and in the community.

CÉIM is a collaborative approach to learning and settling in to university life. 1st year students meet weekly for an hour to learn from each other under the guidance of trained 2nd year Student Leaders, with input from academic staff. CÉIM is a form of academic peer support, better known as PASS or PAL.

The Union run an online grinds register. It’s updated regularly, with the majority of those offering grinds being NUI Galway postgraduate students. Before taking grinds, you should always consult with your lecturer or programme director, who may be able to help you out.

The Students’ Union operates a campus shop, which is located in the basement of the library building, where students can buy all the essentials. It’s open from 08:45 until late in the evening Monday to Friday and daytime hours on a Saturday.

The Union operates a licensed club located at Áras na Mac Léinn. The Club is better known as “Sult” and provides top quality food and beverages for students all year round.

The Wall Cafe is located in the new Sports Centre, at the back of the climbing wall hence it’s name. It’s the perfect place to grab a healthy sandwich, smoothie, panini and much more.

Smokey’s is a popular coffee dock on the Concourse of the Arts/Science Building, serving a full range of hot and cold drinks, snacks and fresh juices and smoothies.

A free baggage room run by the Students’ Union is available in the basement of the Library Building near the SU Shop. The cloakroom is open 09:00 – 17:00 on a Friday during term time. Students can drop in luggage, but all items must be removed before closing time.

Caife na Gaeilge

Bia Léinn is located in Áras na Gaeilge and is a café provides a dining experience through Irish. All staff converse through Irish and customers have the opportunity to come and interact as Gaeilge.

We sell tickets for all national routes and monthly/weekly Galway city service tickets. We can also set you up with your Student Leap Card
